Basketball Recap: Coosa Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Coosa won the last time they faced Armuchee and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Coosa Eagles came out on top against the Armuchee Indians by a score of 59-47. The Eagles pushed the score to 49-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.

Jaylen Worfford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 20 en route to 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lavanye Millsap, who posted eight points and three steals.

Armuchee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Pethel, who scored 11 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Pethel a new career-high. Trenton Cothran was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Coosa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Armuchee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Coosa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-52 loss against Gordon Central on the 17th. As for Armuchee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 85-41 victory against Dalton Academy on the 17th.
