Basketball Recap: South Webster Comes Up Short

If South Webster was feeling good fresh off their 57-35 takedown of Portsmouth West on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Webster Jeeps took a hard 65-49 fall against the Fairland Dragons on Saturday. The Jeeps were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, South Webster still got an impressive performance from Eli Roberts, who went 10-for-19 en route to 26 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Barnard was another key player, putting up six points along with five assists and five boards.

Fairland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Buchanan out in front who went 9-for-16 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Buchanan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cliff Fransen, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

South Webster's defeat dropped their record down to 16-2. As for Fairland, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

South Webster has already played their next match, an 80-52 win against Valley on the 14th. As for Fairland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-62 victory against Chesapeake on the 12th.
