2025 Louisiana Preseason MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings

Top-ranked Edna Karr looks to extend 14-game win streak after winning state title in 2024.

The high school football season in Louisiana kicks off this month and we have your look at the state's top teams. Defending Division 1 Select state champion Edna Karr (New Orleans) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

The Cougars begin the season ranked No. 15 nationally after going unbeaten for the first time since 2018 last year.

Seniors Richard Anderson (6-3, 340, DL, LSU commitment), Aiden Hall (6-2, 195, S, LSU), Leon Noil (6-5, 255, OL, Nebraska), Hayward Howard Jr. (6-2, 175, CB, Texas) and John Johnson (6-0, 180, QB, Liberty) lead the charge for Edna Karr.

The best player in the state is senior defensive lineman Lamar Brown of University Lab (Baton Rouge). Committed to LSU, Brown is the No. 5 overall prospect in the class nationally.

In addition to Edna Karr, defending state champions include Central (Baton Rouge) in Division 1 Non-Selection, Cecilia in Division II Non-Select, Archbishop Shaw (Marrero) in Division II Select, Sterlington in Division III Non-Select, Catholic (New Iberia) in Division III Select, South Plaquemines (Buras) in Division IV Non-Select, Vermilion Catholic (Abbeville) in Division IV Select and John Paul the Great Academy (Lafayette) in ACEL.
