Baseball Recap: Lathrop Gets the Win

After losing to Pacheco the last time they met, Lathrop decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Spartans walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Vaugh Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Lathrop: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nazir Jones was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ayden Louie was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Lathrop's record is now 7-15. As for Pacheco, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Lathrop will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
