Baseball Recap: Xavier Comes Up Short

Xavier extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Seymour Thunder. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for Seymour, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Seymour's part, they got a massive performance out of Scott Sassman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Sassman a new career-high. Brandon Poch was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Xavier will square off against New London at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Seymour, they will take on Denmark at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
