Recap: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Elko Indians
The Spring Creek Spartans have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 48-47 to Elko. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Spring Creek of the 35-34 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Spring Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darren Bylund. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayden Francis, who scored 12 points.
Spring Creek's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. As for Elko, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Creek will take on Lowry at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elko, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Churchill County at 7:30 p.m.
