Softball Preview: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Benton Central Bison

West Lafayette is 2-8 against Benton Central since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Lafayette Red Devils will be playing at home against the Benton Central Bison at 5:00 p.m. West Lafayette will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

While West Lafayette has not struggled against Twin Lakes recently, they managed to flip the script on Friday. West Lafayette blew past Twin Lakes 14-1.

Izzy Ascarelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Ascarelli was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eleanor Hurt, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ellie Wilcoxson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

West Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
