Football Recap: Winner Takes a Loss

Winner was the 24-6 winner over Wagner when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors lost to the Red Raiders on the road by a 34-20 margin on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Red Raiders are ranked 44th).

Winner's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wagner, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winner will venture away from home to square off against Groton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wagner, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
