Football Recap: Wood-Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Ridgefield Memorial

While Wood-Ridge put up plenty of points on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Ridgefield Memorial. The Blue Devils simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Royals 37-0. That looming 37-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Lia Russo was nothing short of spectacular: she rushed for 71 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. She didn't just play on offense: she also made one tackle and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wood-Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matches.

Wood-Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Russo and Isabella Drotos. Drotos got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Wood-Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Ridgefield Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Wood-Ridge will be playing at home against Secaucus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgefield Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
