Softball Recap: Evangelical Christian Triumphs

Evangelical Christian proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 16) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Lake Wales Highlanders 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Sentinels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Karsyn Mootz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anayeli Guzman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Evangelical Christian's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Lake Wales, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Evangelical Christian will face off against Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th up 406 places (15 vs. 421). Evangelical Christian is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Lake Wales (ranked 95th) will meet Auburndale (ranked 279th) at 7:30 p.m. on March 28th. Evangelical Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Lake Wales' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
