Baseball Game Preview: Olathe Pirates vs. Rangely Panthers

The Olathe Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Rangely Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Olathe has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Olathe fell victim to Cedaredge and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Rangely might've scored the first runs two weeks ago, but it was North Fork who claimed the real prize. The Panthers lost 14-4 to the Miners. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rangely saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcos Quintana, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Bradley Lambros also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Olathe has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Rangely, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Rangely's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Olathe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Rangely, though, as they've only averaged .323. Will they be able to contain Olathe's hitters?

Olathe suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Rangely when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
