Recap: Magnolia West Mustangs vs. Madison Marlins

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Magnolia West Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 68-0 win over Madison. The result was nothing new for Magnolia West, who have now won five matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

Magnolia West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryson Broadway out in front who threw for 246 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Brandon Taylor did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Madison to a paltry 152 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Magnolia West's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.

Magnolia West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Magnolia West will be playing at home against Smithson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithson Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 339 points over their last seven matches. Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
