Baseball Game Preview: Licking Wildcats vs. Ava Bears

The Licking Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Ava Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Licking challenged Crocker on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Lions. Considering the Wildcats have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ava). They put the hurt on Mansfield with a sharp 15-4 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Licking's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Ava, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Licking got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 against Ava by a conclusive 20-2 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
