Volleyball Recap: Fruitport's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Fruitport unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gull Lake Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Fruitport was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Fruitport saw an underclassman step up: freshman Regan Wilson had six digs and two aces.

Fruitport's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3-1. As for Gull Lake, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-7.

Coming up, Fruitport's homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Mona Shores at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gull Lake will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' contest: after the Trojans face off against the Sailors, they'll take on Gull Lake again at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
