Baseball Recap: Woodlawn-B.R. Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Woodlawn-B.R.'s game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Independence Tigers a 5-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Independence's batters probably weren't too happy with Cade Saurage, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up two walks).

On the hitting side, Woodlawn-B.R.'s victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Byrd, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Joshua Mckenzie was another, scoring a run and stealing Three bases.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Independence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Woodlawn-B.R. will have a chance to go back-to-back against Independence: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
