Basketball Recap: Fairwinds Christian Knights vs. Greenwood Mennonite Flames
If the Fairwinds Christian Knights were feeling good off their 56-32 takedown of Calvary Christian Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fairwinds Christian suffered a tough 59-33 defeat at the hands of the Flames on Friday. Fairwinds Christian has not had much luck with the Flames recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Fairwinds Christian had strong showings from Solomon Mccloud HS, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Jaiden Rajis, who scored 12 points along with three blocks and two steals. Rajis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played.
Greenwood Mennonite's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Long, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Long posted eight or more assists. Blake Mast was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Fairwinds Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Fairwinds Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chestertown Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Faith Baptist School is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
