Basketball Game Preview: Navarro Panthers vs. Davenport Wolves

The Navarro Panthers will face off against the Davenport Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Navarro will be strutting in after a victory while Davenport will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Navarro strolled past San Antonio Memorial with points to spare, taking the game 44-25. The Panthers pushed the score to 36-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Minutemen cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Davenport entered their matchup against Steele on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Davenport lost to Steele at home by a 75-59 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Knights are ranked tenth).

Navarro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Davenport, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-4.

Navarro was dealt a bruising 92-40 defeat at the hands of Davenport in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Davenport's Brandon Castilla, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five steals.
