Softball Game Preview: Skyline Thunderbirds vs. Cimarron Bluejays

The Skyline Thunderbirds will square off against the Cimarron Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyline is looking for their season's first win.

Skyline fell victim to Inman and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 17-0 to the Teutons.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Cimarron and Scott had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bluejays fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The contest marked the Bluejays' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Quinn Campbell put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Campbell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zayla Hunsaker, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Cimarron's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Skyline beat Cimarron 13-10 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Bluejays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
