Brocton is 2-8 against Frewsburg since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 10:00 a.m.
Brocton managed to slip by Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs came up short against the Wolfpack on Friday, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 7th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frewsburg). They blew past Pine Valley Central 21-7 on Friday. Considering the Bears have won 14 matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Gavin Weaver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Maddox Sheesley was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Blake Weaver was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Frewsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Valley Central only posted an OBP of .407.
The win (which was Frewsburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Brocton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
