Preview: Grayson Rams vs. Archer Tigers

Grayson is 8-1 against Archer since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Grayson Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Archer Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grayson put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brookwood 57-10 on the road. Given Grayson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Brookwood is ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jeff Davis was his usual excellent self, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Aiden Taylor was in the mix as well, providing Grayson with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Archer entered their tilt with South Gwinnett with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Archer had just enough and edged South Gwinnett out 22-19.

Archer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Wallace led the charge by rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Mcrae, who gained 109 total yards and two touchdowns.

The victory makes it two in a row for Grayson and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.5 points. As for Archer, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Grayson against Archer in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 41-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grayson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
