Baseball Game Preview: University Trailblazers vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The University Trailblazers will square off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, University turned things around against Muncie Burris on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owls a 10-0 shutout. With that victory, the Trailblazers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

University got a great performance from Cam Rady as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Rady a new career-high.

At the plate, Charlie Ranek was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryan Castetter was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muncie Burris only posted a batting average of .118.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cass came up short against Blackford on Friday and fell 7-4. The matchup marked the Kings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Lewis Cass and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

University took their victory against Lewis Cass when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Trailblazers repeat their success, or do the Kings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
