Volleyball Recap: Olentangy Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Olentangy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dublin Scioto Irish on Saturday. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Irish when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 24-26, 25-14, 25-10.

Olentangy's offense was headlined by Chloe Hammes and Finley Carpenter, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Alivia Franzel and her 13 assists. Maya Soungpradith controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Dublin Scioto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Konerman, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Konerman has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Magnussen, who had eight digs and two aces.

Coming up, Olentangy will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Hilliard Bradley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dublin Scioto, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Olentangy Berlin at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
