Preview: Terry Bulldogs vs. Pearl River Central Blue Devils
After six games on the road, Terry is heading back home. They will take on the Pearl River Central Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Terry has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Terry posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Holmes County Central and snuck past 37-35.
Terry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Toniah Watts, who scored nine points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisiah Branson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Pearl River Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-26 to Hattiesburg. While losing is never fun, Pearl River Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Hattiesburg is ranked 55th).
Terry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Pearl River Central, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-12.
Terry was able to grind out a solid victory over Pearl River Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 49-37. Does Terry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pearl River Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
