Softball Recap: Marshall Gets the Win

While Marshall's win against Cambridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Bluejays 5-3.

Kennedy Weisensel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mckenzie Logan, who earned two runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brynn Klimek, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Cambridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Marshall will challenge Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cambridge, they will venture away from home to square off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
