Daniel Alaniz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Fairfax is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Alaniz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Jesus Gurule was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Ivan Avendano also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Fairfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, McClintock came up short against Alhambra on Friday, falling 13-4. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
McClintock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javier Alvarado, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
McClintock's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-7. As for Fairfax, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6.
McClintock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairfax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. It's a different story for McClintock, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Fairfax's hitters?
Fairfax couldn't quite get it done against McClintock in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can Fairfax avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
