Softball Recap: Saugerties Takes a Loss

Saugerties lost to Marlboro Central back in June of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sawyers lost 12-3 to the Dukes.

Sophia Tiano made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

Saugerties' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Marlboro Central, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Saugerties and Marlboro Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Sawyers (ranked 82nd) will meet Scotia-Glenville (ranked 201st) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Marlboro Central will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 4:15 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (58 vs. 274).
