For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Carthage and Neosho have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 3-1. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Carthage's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-7. As for Neosho, they dropped their record down to 15-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

When Carthage and Neosho next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Tigers will try to stop Joplin's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Neosho will face off against Willard and their four-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.9, the Tigers 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
