Baseball Recap: Becker Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Becker hadn't done well against Foley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Isaac Guck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Becker let Isaac Daluge and Hunter Pietrowski run wild. Daluge went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Pietrowski got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Pietrowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Girard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Becker pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Foley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Becker will welcome Rocori at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Foley, they will head out on the road to face off against Little Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
