After losing to Oak Forest the last time they met, Shepard decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Astros came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bengals on Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Astros.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Shepard got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-27, 25-18.
Oliver Bilik paced Shepard's offense, picking up 15 kills. Bilik got some help from Conor Harkala and his 32 assists. Dylan Harkala controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Despite the defeat, Oak Forest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Perez had 25 digs. Those 25 digs set a new season-high mark for Perez.
Shepard's record now sits at 19-14. As for Oak Forest, they now have a losing record of 15-16.
