Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Christian Liberty Chargers
After losing to Christian Liberty the last time they met, Hiawatha decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hawks came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 2-0 on Monday.
Hiawatha easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-8.
Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up six kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her ten assists. Banks was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Hiawatha's win bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Christian Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Hiawatha will square off against Freeport at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Christian Liberty, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Alden-Hebron at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th.
