Baseball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Triad Knights

The Cary-Grove Trojans will take on the Triad Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Cary-Grove heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Benet Academy.

Ricky Barnes was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Francis Panko, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Triad faced St. Laurence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Knights fell 11-6 to the Vikings. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging 2.58 runs allowed.

Keegan Seipp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Cary-Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Triad, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 33-7.
