Basketball Recap: Gilroy Comes Up Short

Gilroy lost against Oak Grove back in May of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gilroy Mustangs took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oak Grove Eagles.

Oak Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Felix Enow, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Kevin Adiey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Gilroy dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Oak Grove, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilroy will venture away from home to challenge Evergreen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Evergreen Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Gilroy surely won't give up without a fight. Oak Grove has already played their next contest (against Ann Sobrato), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
