Basketball Recap: Dawson Macklin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat De Leon

Rio Vista won the last time they faced De Leon and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rio Vista Eagles snuck past the De Leon Bearcats with a 48-43 victory.

Rio Vista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dawson Macklin out in front who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Macklin is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Zepeda, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Rio Vista now has a winning record of 5-4. As for De Leon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Rio Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-28 victory against Comanche on the 13th. As for De Leon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
