Basketball Game Preview: Evansville Central Bears vs. Evansville Harrison Warriors

Evansville Central is 9-1 against Evansville Harrison since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Evansville Central has insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Evansville Central turned things around against Jasper on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 58-56.

Evansville Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivya Hile led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Thanks to that strong game, Hile now owns an excellent 47.7% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Madalynn Shirley, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Evansville Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Evansville Harrison didn't have too much trouble with Tecumseh last Thursday as they won 68-49.

Evansville Central better focus on containing Jaliyah Farmer and Erin Butler as the pair were huge in Evansville Harrison's win. Farmer dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten assists, while Butler shot 44% from the field en route to 18 points and three steals. The contest was Butler's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Reniah Cordray was another key player, going 5-for-8 on her way to 12 points and five boards.

Evansville Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Evansville Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Evansville Central against Evansville Harrison when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 66-26 victory. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
