Baseball Game Preview: Austintown-Fitch Falcons vs. Girard Indians

The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Girard Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Austintown-Fitch nor Girard posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Austintown-Fitch came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to GlenOak. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 25th.

Meanwhile, Girard fell victim to Poland Seminary and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 8-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Girard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Phiilips, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Austintown-Fitch has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Girard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.
