Softball Recap: Silverado Drops Highest Score of Season Against Barstow

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silverado). They walked away with a 17-12 win over the Barstow Aztecs on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Silverado got a massive performance out of Alex Valdez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Valdez has posted since back in April of 2024. Alyzzah Piceno also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Silverado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .465. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Silverado has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Barstow, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Silverado will head out on the road to challenge Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks are facing the Jackrabbits at the right time seeing as the Jackrabbits are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Barstow, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granite Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Aztecs surely won't give up without a fight.
