Baseball Game Preview: Cave Spring Knights vs. Franklin County Eagles

The Cave Spring Knights will face off against the Franklin County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cave Spring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Blacksburg hit Cave Spring with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell 12-8 to the Bruins. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Logan Meinster was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Cave Spring: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Farwell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Franklin County couldn't beat Northside on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Cave Spring's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Cave Spring skirted past Franklin County 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
