The Upper Perkiomen Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Boyertown Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Upper Merion Area hit Upper Perkiomen with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians fell 8-4 to the Vikings.
Olivia Gehringer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Kristina Molnar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Boyertown waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kyra Neiswender was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Wilson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Boyertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Upper Perkiomen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Boyertown, their record is now 8-6.
Upper Perkiomen's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Boyertown, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Upper Perkiomen continue to outrun the ball?
Upper Perkiomen might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Boyertown in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
