The St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish will head out on the road to square off against the Ellet Orangemen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Vincent-St. Mary has four straight wins, Ellet has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
St. Vincent-St. Mary barely beat Springfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fighting Irish blew past the Spartans 13-6 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Irish, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aidan Roberts looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, St. Vincent-St. Mary got a massive performance out of Logan Henderson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Henderson a new career-high. Ashton Tamzarian was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
St. Vincent-St. Mary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ellet didn't have quite enough to beat Firestone on Wednesday and fell 3-2.
Ellet saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden West, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.
St. Vincent-St. Mary pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Ellet, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Ellet's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Vincent-St. Mary hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Ellet, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain St. Vincent-St. Mary's hitters?
St. Vincent-St. Mary couldn't quite finish off Ellet when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 5-3. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
