Preview: Wood County Christian Wildcat vs. Paden City Wildcats
Wood County Christian has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Paden City Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Monday, Wood County Christian was the victim of a rough 53-33 loss at the hands of Conotton Valley. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wood County Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 120th in West Virginia, while Conotton Valley is ranked 685th in Ohio).
Paden City suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Wirt County at home and fell 60-26. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Paden City in their matchups with Wirt County: they've now lost four in a row.
Kimberly Burch was Paden City's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Wood County Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Paden City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Wood County Christian ended up a good deal behind Paden City in their previous meeting two weeks ago, losing 41-27. Can Wood County Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
