Dos Palos came out on top against Mendota on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Broncos blew past the Aztecs 17-1. Considering the Broncos have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Breann Raney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Liliana DelaRosa was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Yaretzi Sandoval, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dos Palos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Dos Palos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. The Broncos are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Mendota, they will head out to face off against Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Horned Toads' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Aztecs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
