Basketball Recap: Lawrence Academy's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Lawrence Academy won the last time they faced Northeast Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Lawrence Academy Warriors blew past the Northeast Academy Eagles 67-45. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lawrence Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nike Wiggins out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wiggins has scored at least a third of Lawrence Academy's points. Winston Warren was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven assists and six boards.

Lawrence Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Northeast Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Judson Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Chance Lassiter, who posted nine points and five boards.

Lawrence Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Northeast Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lawrence Academy has already played their next matchup, a 68-50 win against Pungo Christian Academy on the 29th. As for Northeast Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-28 defeat against Ridgecroft on the 28th.
