Volleyball Recap: Candlelight Christian Academy Starts off Right with Win over Hillsborough Baptist

Candlelight Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hillsborough Baptist Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Flames, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Candlelight Christian Academy was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 25-9.

Leading Candlelight Christian Academy to victory were Leilah Quinones and Arliss Vargas. Quinones had nine aces, while Vargas had six aces. Those nine aces gave Quinones a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Candlelight Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Roosevelt Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillsborough Baptist, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Champions Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on September 9.
