Basketball Recap: Blaire Mccauley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Thomas More over Northside

St. Thomas More was the 43-40 winner over Northside when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Thomas More Cougars received a blow on Friday as they fell 45-30 to the Northside Vikings. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 12-8 in the first quarter.

St. Thomas More lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Blaire Mccauley, who posted eight points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Mccauley has posted since back in December of 2024.

St. Thomas More's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Northside, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the St. Thomas More Cougars face off against the Westgate Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Thomas More is facing Westgate at the right time seeing as Westgate is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northside, they will head out on the road to square off against Comeaux at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
