Baseball Game Preview: Sheldon Irish vs. South Eugene Axe

The Sheldon Irish will head out on the road to square off against the South Eugene Axe at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheldon will be strutting in after a victory while South Eugene will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Sheldon narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Roseburg 4-3.

Meanwhile, South Eugene was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 7-1 to Roseburg.

South Eugene saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gino Humphrey, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Jonah Alexander also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory got Sheldon back to even at 6-6-1. As for South Eugene, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Sheldon couldn't quite finish off South Eugene in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
