Softball Recap: Minneota Has No Trouble Against Montevideo

While Minneota put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Montevideo. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Thunderhawks. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Minneota got a great performance from Madison Hennen as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hennen has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Danni Kockelman was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersyn Hulzebos, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Minneota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Minneota's victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Minneota and Montevideo will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Vikings are set to square off against their familiar foe Yellow Medicine East at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Montevideo will face off against rival Melrose at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
