Baseball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

While Peoria Notre Dame put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Peoria. The Irish blew past the Lions 17-0. Considering the Irish have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucas Langan looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ian Akers, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mickels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

With the victory, Peoria Notre Dame broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-15. As for Peoria, their defeat was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-21.

Peoria Notre Dame will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair will be back at it again later today.
