Bayside hasn't had much luck against Melbourne recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bears will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bayside had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Brevard HEAT on Friday. The Bears blew past the Firehawks 12-2. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Firehawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Sam Welte and Elvin Pascaul made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Welte pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Pascaul pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Welte scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Pascaul fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Welte has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Folstein, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Isiah Edwards also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Bayside lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Melbourne hadn't done well against Eau Gallie recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs skirted past the Commodores 3-2. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Commodores on their field since March 30, 2022.
Melbourne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Conner, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Melbourne is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bayside, their record now sits at 14-8.
Bayside came up short against Melbourne in their previous meeting back in March, falling 3-0. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
