Soccer Game Preview: Marian Catholic vs. Richards

Marian Catholic is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Richards a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Marian Catholic Spartans will host the Richards Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Marian Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Richards will be coming in after a defeat.

Marian Catholic's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past St. Anthony 8-0. It was an even better day for Nyla Williams as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Richards fell victim to Blue Island Eisenhower and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Richards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Blue Island Eisenhower are ranked 169th).

Richards' loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Marian Catholic, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-14-1.

Marian Catholic took their victory against Richards in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
