Basketball Recap: Dynamic duo of Oliver Anderson and Landon Peoples lead Halifax Academy to victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rocky Mount Academy, the Halifax Academy Vikings were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They secured a 73-69 W over Brunswick Academy. The victory was all the more spectacular given Halifax Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 604th in North Carolina, while the Vikings are ranked 220th in Virginia).

Leading Halifax Academy to victory were Oliver Anderson and Landon Peoples. Anderson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Peoples scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peoples has scored all season. Austin Gaertner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Halifax Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Brunswick Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Halifax Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brunswick Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Amelia Academy is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
